MICHAEL COLEMAN RISES FROM GRAVE TO PLAY AT WILLIE CLANCY SUMMER SCHOOL

July 12, 2013

The great Sligo fiddle player Michael Coleman rose from the grave yesterday to play fiddle at the Willie Clancy Summer School concert.

In an event that astounded many, the great fiddle player who died in 1945 defied logic to return to life and play a rousing set in front of a packed community hall in Miltown Malbay, County Clare. Those who were there were treated to an energetic performance where Michael performed his famous party trick of dancing as he played.

At the end of the night, members from the audience formed a set to finish off a wonderful concert. Willie Clancy Summer School organiser Harry Hughes said that he was as surprised as anyone at Coleman's presence but hopes he will return again next year.

"It was a great night I must say and fair play to Michael Coleman for coming all that way. It must have been an interesting journey. If we knew he was coming we would have organised travel for him. Maybe next year he'll come again, I'll have a chat with him."

After the concert Coleman joined the other musicians down in Friels for a drink until he realised he was actually a corpse and collapsed in a heap on the floor. The other punters believed he was drunk and continued to enjoy the night. It was only the next morning they realised what had happened.

They are now appealing for help from anybody who would be willing to ship his corpse back to the United States.
