PAUL BRADY SEES GLIMPSE OF 1970S SELF IN MIRROR AND WONDERS, "WHAT WAS I THINKING?"
Singer/songwriter and ex-traditional singer Paul Brady caught a glimpse of his 1970s self in the mirror today and was horrified at what he saw.
Before getting ready to go down to the studio for a hard day's recording, Brady decided to freshen up in his en-suite, a room which he had used many times before, mainly because he had food poisoning the previous week.
However he was unprepared for what he saw. Instead of his usual 2014 reflection complete with designer sunglasses and permanent scowl he saw a 1970s version of himself, including large granny-like glasses and carrot top.
"I was stunned! I was about to go down to the studio and record 'Nothing but the same old story' for the 100th time when I looked in the mirror and saw...well, me! Not me now but me now when it was then. Me now then! The 1970s! I used to play with Andy Irvine ye know..."
"It was quite a shock I can tell you. I have to apologise, I really don't know what came over me then. My style was awful. I looked like a middle-aged lesbian english teacher from Brooklyn. It's a good thing I was such a good singer and guitar player."
It's not known if Brady was on medication at the time as hallucinations can be a side-effect of many prescriptions although these are usually accompanied by a spirit guide and a journey to Christmas Past, Present and Future.
"I'm not really sure how to explain it. I thought I heard a pixie or something telling me in my ear to record with Andy Irvine again but I think it was him just whispering through the wall."
