EXCLUSIVE: 'KISS' INSPIRED 2014 WILLIE CLANCY SUMMER SCHOOL T-SHIRT REVEALED
'The Drone' has obtained exclusive pictures of this year's Willie Clancy Summer School t-shirt and can reveal that the designers have gone for a 'KISS' inspired design.
The legendary summer school which is running into its 42nd year and many festival goers have in the past, forked out a few quid to remember the occassion with an official t-shirt. This year, festival goers will get a surprise after the t-shirt designers were given some license to come up with the new design.
Not content with a simple picture and 2014 signature, the designers have gone all out to put their own twist on the t-shirt. The result: Willie Clancy meets glam-rock band 'KISS'. The designers have said they are quite happy with this year's addition:
"We really wanted to put our own stamp on the t-shirt this year. The guys in the studio are big into their late 70s and early 80s glam rock and one of the guys was wearing the classic 'KISS' t-shirt that we based the design for the Willie Clancy one on, so we went with that one."
The layout includes the great Willie Clancy wearing the make-up of 'KISS' members Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, Peter Criss and Paul Stanley with 'WCSS 2014' in the 'KISS' lettering above and 'Willie Clancy Summer School 2014' below.
The t-shirt is sure to become a collector's item in years to come and the design team is already hard at work to come up with an even better design next year. 'KISS' frontman Gene Simmons, the man famous for his protruding tongue and for claiming to have bedded 4,600 women (although none were confirmed to be uilleann pipers), gave the t-shirt his seal of approval.
"I pride myself on having been involved with the best make-up wearing band of all time. Irish music is a new venture for me and this t-shirt is the perfect way to break into that market. I'm hoping to put together a trad group which wil involve levitating bodhráns, fire-breathing whistle players, smoking fiddles and pyrotechnics!"
