TRUMP TELLS SLIABH LUACHRA MUSICIANS "GO BACK WHERE YOU CAME FROM" IN TWITTER TIRADE
Donald Trump has courted more controversy today after directing a number of charged tweets in the direction of Sliabh Luachra musicians, telling them to “go back where you came from”.
The US President aimed his tweets at Sliabh Luachra musicians, apparently as he is unhappy with the number of polkas, slides and slip-jigs being introduced to traditional music sessions around the country.
Trump told the musicians to “do that at their own sessions”, while also adding that maybe “Chairman Lau can organise travel arrangements”, in reference to the incumbent head of Cult-Ass.
It is reported that Trump was particularly unhappy following his recent visit to Doonbeg, where apparently local musicians were heard playing a number of Sliabh Luachra tunes. This sentiment was also expressed by his sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, who deliberately left out the one Sliabh Luachra musician from their famous round of drinks on their Doonbeg walkabout.
A number of musicians have come out in support of Trump’s comments, with many expressing their dismay at how mixed the tunes that are played at sessions are at present.
One musician told The Drone: “I can’t stand those Sliabh Luachra fuckers. They waltz in like they own the place, and then they start playing those bloody slides and polkas, with their legs hopping up and down and side to side.”
“Maybe if they tried to fit in with our sessions it would be alright. Maybe if they tried the jigs and reels, but no. They play these feckin’ tunes that start off in one key and end in another, sure I can’t bloody well keep up! Those tunes are filthy!”
“Those polkas are for those lads in Poland or Germania, or whatever those countries are over there. I was at one session where a lad played The Chinese Polka. For feck sake! Our session is being invaded by the Chinese tunes now. It’s gone too far. Send them back I say.”
Other traditional musicians are incensed at Trump’s tweets, calling them inflammatory and racist, and that the traditional music session is a place that should be welcoming for people from all walks of life.
Another musician told The Drone: “These comments are damaging to traditional music and only serve to highten tension between the different regional styles.”
“The session is a haven for all types of tunes and people from all regions. If Bryan O’Leary came into my session and started a few slides, I’d welcome him with open arms. All musicians are welcome! Except bouzouki players. They can fuck right off.”
Trump has since defended his tweets, saying he doesn’t have a racist bone in his body and referred to those trying to insinuate as such as ‘The Sliabh Squad’.
